WE ARE A FAMILY OF 4 just trying to have fun and make some funny signs! DERRICK IS A service tech./ELECTRICIAN WHO IS THE MAIN COMPONENT (THE BRAINS) THAT MAKES OUR PASSION FOR WOODWORKING POSSIBLE. derrick built and wired the cnc router fully by reading schematics online.I have worked as A DENTAL ASSISTANT for 16+ years but it doesn’t keep me from derricks side helping him fulfill orders, designing new signs and bringing new ideas to life to allow KLD to continue to grow. OUR SON LANDON IS 15 AND IS A HUGE PART OF THIS family owned BUSINESS. FROM HELPING US Sand, stain, and paint. he also attends almost all of our shows helping to assist customers by answering questions about wood types and selling signs. our 2 year old daughter reese has made it a little more interesting trying to get work done these days but we woulndt have it any other way!
WE BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOME BACK IN 2016 AND WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS we GOT IN SOME VERY UNEXPECTED home owner hardship (major construction repairs.) DERRICK HAD THE IDEA OF STARTING a BUSINESS TO HELP US THROUGH THESE FINANCIAL HARD TIMES. after a close friend of his built a plasma cnc for metal cutting is WHEN CAME UP WITH THe IDEA to cnc wood. i THOUGHT HE WAS CRAZY! he wanted to SPEND MORE MONEY TO BUILD A MACHINE THAT WE knew nothing about. VERY SCARY, BUT HE JUMPED RIGHT IN. WE CUT OUR FIRST SIGN ON DECEMBER 24, 2017 AND HAVE BEEN NON STOP cutting wood SINCE. DERRICKS ORIGINAL IDEA WAS to be DOING MORE OF THE MAN CAVE/3D TYPE OF WOOD DESIGNS. ONCE i GOT my HANDS ON THE DESIGING program, is when THE MORE HOME DECORE/FARMHOUSE style SIGNS CAME INTO PLAY.
